TwitterVIEW With NERDBOY TV

Today I had a Interview about TBT (The Big Time) over Twitter.

Please visit http://www.nerdboytv.com

NerdboyTV: Today's NerdBoyTV TwitterVIEW is with @GabeMichael, one of the creators of The Big Tim Show. http://www.thebigtimeshow.com/

Gabe Michael: yes sir!

NB: We're doing this TwitterVIEW live for Friends to Follow...with that let's begin.
Hey Gabe, welcome. Tell us what The Big Time Show is? Where did your idea come from?

GM: The show is in the vein of Entourage and The office, except that the stars (my friend dave and I) have no talent! haha We got the idea sitting around in my friends spa one day. We just thought...what talent do we have to offer the world. we couldn't think of any. thus the show was born...

NB: I just watched the Pilot Episode the other day; funny. How many people are involved in producing an episode?

GM: For the pilot we had the actors plus the camera man and that was it. So about 5. Every episode since that number has grown.

NB: Ahhhh, the BEST inspiration comes from being in the spa, huh? LOL You obviously have a GREAT sense of humor... Are you showcasing your humor, your film-making ability, your ability to gather fans on social networking, or maybe all above?

GM: E) all the above. I come from a filmmaking background while Dave has a degree in marketing. So with no budget for this show.....we rely on social networking as our only advertising and distribution

NB: Well you seem VERY adept at BOTH. Do you have a YouTube channel? Do you have RSS? Syndicate on iTunes?

GM: http://youtube.com/thebigti... we have over 1000 subscribers and our hits grow exponentially as more and more find the show.

NB: Do you syndicate through iTunes store? Now THAT's a huge pool of potential viewers...
Do you have a very vocal, interactive following through YouTube/Twitter comments? Get story ideas from them?

GM: We are in the process of RSS and Itunes. The show started to take off faster then we thought. Filming has been taking up our time. We have had chances for distribution, but struggling for money. We will get there slowly. or quickly depending on ITVF

NB: ITVF This is The Independent Television Festival, BTW, everyone; awww the beauty of TwitterVIEWs; access to Google ;-)

GM: Our comments on youtube are hilarious and various. We have actually used a few for jokes in the episodes we just wrapped. we also get tons of emails and messages about content and stories from "real life struggling artist" We are trying to make the show as interactive as possible. we will have Vlogs Blogs and more content soon

NB: WOW, what a PERFECT use of the medium. I think that's what I admired about your work ;-) The Big Time Show is the epitome of interactive TV, huh? Where do you want this all to go for you? Syndication? move to TV?

GM: Syndication would be awesome. TV the dream. We are coming in on the ground level of Internet TV so who knows. Its a new world.

NB: If someone here on Twitter has storyline idea for The Big Time Show, what is the best way to get that to you? Comments? Tweets?

GM: I would say visit our website, myspace or tweet me. We try to stay on top of it, but are very busy. We appreciate every comment

NB: If u could give one piece of advise to aspiring Twitter filmmakers who want to follow suit, what would that be? Lesson learned?

GM: finding an audience is hardest piece, but if you make good content they will come. If someone comments you, comment them back.....people like getting and giving feedback. become friends with your audience. they like that!

'The Big Time Show': Big on Laughs

Thebigtime

So I am told to check out this new web series The Bigtime Show. "Fine, if I must" I whine?

Slightly jaded I toddle around their website, I think, quite frankly, in an effort to stall watching another show about two wanna-be actors.

The Big Time stars Gabe Michael as Gabe, David Wuest as Dave (both actors) and John Charles Meyer as Dr. J their crooked agent/landlord. The premise for the pilot episode is that two actor guys, Gabe and Dave "move to Hollywood to make their dreams of going big come true" or at least that's what the web synopsis says.

Gabe, the action star wanna-be finds an ad for Dr. J who is supposed to be some big time agent. He and his semi-nerdy, but cute, guitar-playing best friend, Dave, go to the address. When they get there a very strange Chinese man opens the door and doesn't say a word. Actually this little beat had me laughing out loud which I must for the show is its subtle comedy. Little familiar L.A. actor-isms just had my laughing so hard.

DRJ But back to the show, finally Dr. J comes to the door, nose ring, long pony tail, looking more like he belongs in Scarface than an agent's office. He does agree to see them but warns that they must never use that door again.

Before watching the pilot episode, honestly, I expected a poor sound/light quality, not that well-written series about two actors, but I was surprised. This is good; it really is! I am (although reluctant to admit it because I am way too cool) looking forward to more episodes.

Established in the pilot show, the boys have 'arrived' and are set to make the big time; they will be living in Dr. J's house. Within the show is also inter-cut, very funny confessionals by the guys or their trash-talking agent (who is particularly good). Dr J. has the best scene-stealers. Visually, he is hilarious and then acting-wise, his understated, do-what-I-say-and-don't-ask attitude, as if he is 'on the lam', rocks!

One clip in particular works well when on the screen we see a title for what we are about to view which is Gabe's action demo. Dr. J talks over it in parts, saying that these guys have no talent but he will get all he can out of them. Gabe, in the demo, takes a very un-samurai-like, slow motion approach to action, really funny. Seriously, the series, produced by Gabe Michael/David Wuest and written by Gabe Michael, David Wuest and John Charles Mayer is ambitious. They have created a vehicle for themselves as actors and it could be risky, but I think it really works. It is well cast, well written, funny as hell and some of the cartoon graphics are also a nice touch. Also I think as a series, this actually has room to go somewhere in that they have a brilliant set-up with Gabe leading his sorry friend, Dave and both being led by slimy Dr. J. There is something about this show, while a predictable premise, that leaves me wondering what will happen next and definitely hoping that I am at least slightly surprised!

I'd say keep an eye on these guys. There is certainly talent both in the acting and writing, charisma and tenacity and it remains to be seen if they push the envelope with the series. But keep watching, they might just hit The Big Time! NBC execs., you better watch your back, The Big Time crew are coming after your jobs!

Sunshine Cleaning or What a marvelous invention these movie things...

Sunshine Cleaning turned out to be a good flick. Although it dragged a bit in the middle the pay off at the end was worth watching the film. I also can't wait to see the new Sam Menes film. It looks so good.

While watching Sunshine Cleaning I had a great feeling about the career that I have chosen. I realized that no matter what film you go to see, if you can connect to the characters, you go through a cathartic experience and come out somewhat cleansed. What a marvelous invention these movie things...

Back Dated Blogs!!

Im trying to combine all my blogs into one space (http://gabemichael.blogspot.com) and eventually get rid of MYSPACE for good. Here are some back dated blogs:

Some people say Directing is a vocation, like being a Priest or a Doctor. It's not remotely like being a Priest or a Doctor, but it may be a vocation, because no-one in their right mind would voluntarily go through the kind of hell that a Film Director has to go through.

when happiness is more then an afterthought my destiny will be complete/
no more tears will drip when the final curtain calls/
I hear the voice...

...but have yet to find it.

04 Dec 07 Tuesday

Born to die. Born to live. What difference does it make? A fate is a fate is a fate and my destiny is to unlearn what i know. I am tired, but am trying to wake OR let the day break on this weathered face.
I feel the end hovering over my head. It hangs and It's there and (now) I know. It is this end that makes life worth living and each moment is a stitch in the fabric of eternity. Embrace the end, because it is coming. it is near. It is.
No more hiding. The shutter is open and all light shines through. Life repeats life repeats life and one's destiny is only hidden by their mind. The wind knows better.
We are trees of knowledge withered at the vine. The root remains buried in the earth. Buried like the bones of saints and the sand of time. We miss the life everlasting.
We wait for the rain to come. We wait for the end to come. We wait for the rain. We wait for the end. We wait and we wait and we wait and never know that we are, that I AM.
I AM.

03 Oct 07 Wednesday
You can't deny the now.
It is the only truth.

Embark on the Journey of finding your soul.
Get drunk off the wine of forever, drink it with whoever crosses your path.
Resistance is useless. Plans are useless.
The universe is simple.

The sun never rises with cruel intentions,
It gives possibility.
It gives life, it gives death.
It gives.

Tomorrow is an excuse for the sun to set.
The fool just assumes it will rise again.

06 May 07 Sunday
to sit in silence.

a scream defens my ear. that distant scream of nothing is to much to bear. hope of a falling brick, or smashing glass fills the heart. anything but the silence. noise. i want nosie. noise to fill the soul, so i can not hear the sound of my own sin. That clinching fist pounding at my heart. that atomic bomb trying to explode. a prayer for anything but i what i need. anything, but this silence...i lift my hands and talk off my ass. i talk and talk and scream and yell and curse and hate the invisible god that is everything...that is nothing. nothing. nothing, liike silence. I would give anything for the sound of a gun shot, a hold up, a broken heart crying on the street. but all is quiet...nothing...not a sound. i check my ears, there is no blood, but i feel something warm something like the first day of school. all possiblities are anew.
Silence. I hear the a bird cherp.
silence. If there ever were an invisible god, he would speak in silence.

03 Aug 06 Thursday
We wake to names called in the wind & this city & this sin are the name dropping dead. Ghosts of thoughts lurking with in & it over takes me. Drown the pirate and his whore, she makes him do evil things. With a tear of joy we forget our fears & foregt that fear is love. Let them rise on this day and fear the living, but not the living dead. The profits truths are only self discoveries hidden from his past & we sail the sea of the damed, wishing for one more shot at life.

15 Jun 06 Thursday

TODAY is just a past time
of a TOMORROW soon to come,
a better manifest of the NOW

...and where does my soul live??

my unholy temple of aches & pains & loss & gains
of flesh down to the bone?

I rot in time like a prison,
four walls turn your head up,
and sometimes birds fly by...

Why LOOK up?

If all that's left is the word,
then poet's pens must be absurb.
unless the grace, which fallen fast,
makes the last one first & first one last
& poet his reciever.

WHY look up?

Tomorrow may never come
& our cage may never crack
& dreams are as usless as
the skin on our back.

So bleed when your wipped.
Cry when your pimped.
Laugh at the joke.
Drink your brothers coke.
Dance when sing &
Sing when you dance.
Do what is right!

NOW IS YOUR ONLY CHANCE.

The moment is eternity...fading in the wind...

08 May 06 Monday

The mirror is Vanity's left hand. You and me man, lets make a mess. And if we wake the kids from eight hours of sleep, let them not see what we see. Can I not stay awake for a day, or sleep for an hour - at least? A flower's dream is just as sweet as one less night of counting sheep. Verging the edge of a new yesterday & i was tired then. If eight hours given were taken as dreams, one is enough...it seems what it seems. §

24 Apr 06 Monday

I use to be able to control my dreams. I would walk through my dreamland and enjoy what I'd see. Since the great unrest I no longer have control. I wander the night like a theif in the snow and each morning is less real then night before. It takes the day to calm me down...but at night i think. Thinking equals the thought of a dream and dreams don't tell you outright they will leave your mind moments after waking....yet i dream...

07 Apr 06 Friday

If you know how to kill a solidier why dont you kiss him instead. A life once lived is one better then dead & the choir chimes in with a broken halleujaha & the divorce of the president is a long time a coming. Some one with the name of Smith once had four wives, never pleasured one...but children came none the less. The blind are just pretending they are a jury & they are bought. But whos counting the time between the weight you have lost? A cheese burger makes blood sugar settle and the truth hurt more than it should. Bob Dylans beard can only be braided so long & soap opera's are only so true. And the record skips and the kids these days are so damn spoiled. We were the golden generation. Are the generation that once again became drunk off of the killing of the films. truth once spoke became a freedom that was not earned. 20 years less a sailor. i was beat by a commerical...only wanting more...and tomorrow only brings a poem that poets wont read...

today was the best day of my
life, i didnt have to think....
thanks for being drunk off of
the wine that was always free
i think next time i might vote democrat.

your cousin

14 Mar 06 Tuesday

Im not a child, im younger than that
The truth that i seek is pulled from a hat.
It feels like i just woke up.
The sun is shining and its bright.

Dont blame me for the sins of my father
Or my destiny to repeat them.
Men live in circles, Die by the knife.
We leave our wives with aprons of tears.

Could you explain it?
Please tell a child about death.
How could you understand it?
My ears are wide; lungs ready for breath.

13 Dec 05 Tuesday

In a life of the unexamined,
The damed walk the earth.
Quietly they ponder
And ravage every sound into a defining silence.
A day is sadness,
When the unconcious mind renders grey.

The Script, The Producer, The Career?

My dear friend JimmyC Jimmy Do, introduced me to a prominent and influential producer a few weeks back. It was at this meeting where the producer said he would read my feature film, "When I Grow Up I Want to be Jason Mason." On friday I received a call that the producer wanted to meet me again to discuss the script.

I met with the producer yesterday and much came from the meeting. He wants to read the script again, give me a few notes then have me do a rewrite as the DIRECTOR and not just the writer. He believes I am the only one who can direct the film that I wrote. On top of all this I need to come up with three more pitches of different genre films that he might hire me to write!

Even with all this business we discussed, we had plenty of time to talk about life, the world, god and the universe. It was a delightful evening with a kind man.
